Description

Aristopharma Ltd., one of the top ten pharmaceutical companies in Bangladesh, began its journey in 1986 with a commitment to provide quality medicines at affordable prices. The company now operates two plants: one in Shampur, Dhaka, and the other in Gachha, Gazipur. The Shampur plant, located 10 km southeast of central Dhaka at Shampur-Kadamtali I/A, is the company’s first facility. Despite its age, continuous upgrades and expansions have equipped it with advanced, sophisticated facilities designed to meet both local and international demands in terms of quality and quantity. Aristopharma produces a wide range of medicines, including antiulcerants, antibiotics, NSAIDs, antipyretics, vitamins, minerals, laxatives, cardiovascular drugs, antidiabetics, steroids, antispasmodics, antihistamines, antipsychotics, antiemetics, antiseptics, and more. These medicines come in various forms, from tablets, capsules, syrups, suspensions, creams, ointments, and gels to more complex injections, lyophilized injections, prefilled syringes, HFA inhalers, suppositories, insulin, and other biotech products. The company strictly adheres to WHO-approved cGMP guidelines in every operation at the plant.

The Gachha plant, located about 30 km northwest of central Dhaka, spans over 13 acres and includes separate, dedicated buildings for cephalosporins, ophthalmic, and herbal products. A new facility for general solid products is also under construction at this plant. These facilities are developed in accordance with the guidelines of regulated markets such as the UKMHRA and USFDA.

In 2002, Aristopharma began manufacturing sterile ophthalmic products and currently holds the leading position in Bangladesh's ophthalmic market. The company's philosophy is that quality is an ongoing journey rather than a destination, continuously striving for higher standards. The motto of Aristopharma’s quality policy is “Quality – the unit we count,” reflecting that quality is integrated into every aspect of their operations.

Aristopharma has conducted bioequivalence studies on products like Omep (Omeprazole) capsules, Metacard MR (Trimetazidine) tablets, Lodipin-5 (Amlodipine) tablets, AZ (Azithromycin) capsules and suspension, and Aropen (Meropenem) injections. Clinical trials have also been carried out on Taxetil (Cefpodoxime), Afix (Cefixime), Metacard MR (Trimetazidine), Ipec-Plus (Iron Polymaltose+Zinc+Folic Acid), among others, demonstrating that these products are as effective as their branded counterparts. Additional clinical trials are ongoing at various hospitals and universities.

In response to globalization challenges, Aristopharma began exporting beyond Bangladesh in 2000, with Vietnam as its first international market. Today, the company exports its quality medicines to 31 countries across five continents and is actively expanding its export markets. In recognition of its Quality Management System, Aristopharma received the ISO 9001:2000 certification in 2005 from Orion Registrar Inc., USA, and later upgraded to the ISO 9001:2008 standard. Currently, around 7,000 employees are dedicated to Aristopharma's mission of building a healthier future.
